Robertson County communities Elliott and Goodland suffered a severe wind and hail storm last Friday night. Thousands of acres of cotton and corn were beaten down and roofs and houses damaged. Livestock injuries and deaths were reported. Principal losers included local families such as W. R. Boswell and W. H. Greer, with others unnamed. Heaviest damage centered on locally known residents and farms.
Congressman Bob Poage critiques a House postal bill, warning it would inflate costs and debt, raise postal wages, and threaten inflation. He argues voting rights and patronage issues risk federal overreach, stressing states must decide voting qualifications and warning against a strong national government. The Commissioner's Court of Robertson County Texas invites sealed bids at the Franklin Courthouse until Monday June 29 1970 at 9 00 A M. for one new current model tandem drive motor grader powered by a six cylinder direct electric start diesel engine with minimum 125 flywheel horsepower to include a 12 foot mould board 13 00x24 10 ply tires with safety glass and a minimum total machine weight of 24000 pounds. Funeral services for Luther L. Burch 82 were held at 2 p.m. Monday June 22 at Bald Prairie Church of Christ with Minister Luther Blackmon officiating. Interment followed in Bald Prairie Cemetery. Survived by four sons four daughters twenty two grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
