Waggon Wheel Lodge Open House Sunday in Hearne
Open house for the Waggon Wheel Lodge of Hearne will be held Sunday from two to six at 1100 Brown Street. The 150 bed senior citizen and veteran lodge, built by Mr. and Mrs. R W McDonnell, features brick steel and glass construction with 30 000 square feet of space and six wings forming a wagon wheel shape. The facility includes private baths, central offices and nurses station, dining and living areas, therapy and TV room, beauty shop, barber, fenced yard, and 24 hour nursing staff. The lodge is operated by Convalescent Nursing Centers of America with Doris Mathews as administrator and Clara Koch as assistant administrator. Licensed nurses on duty 24 hours daily, chapel services, and climate controlled environment are planned.

One Stabbed One Shot On Sunday
Arthur Dees was shot in the abdomen and Frank Jones Jr was stabbed after an altercation in front of Dees home Sunday morning at 1230. Jones was treated and released. Dees remained hospitalized. Sheriff Elliott said the case will go to the Robertson County Grand Jury next meeting. Stella Campise visited in Dallas with Pete Interrante last week.

HEW Considers Ending Aid to Hearne School System
The Dallas HEW office reviews ending federal aid after Hearne district’s race integration plan was deemed inadequate for 1969 70. A three member Civil Rights team visited June 9 10 and will present their report June 19 to the Hearne School Board. Maintenance items, bids and purchases dominated the June meeting.

Three Hearnites Attend Boys State As Delegates
The 29th annual American Legion Boys State at the University of Texas in Austin opens June 7 with 750 Texas high school boys registering. Hearne delegates are John Thomas Wilson Miles Scriviner Lepion Post Paley Andrew Heedel and Billy Mack Casey Jr. Hearne Chamber sponsor Tomierce. The program assigns each boy to a party and sends them to precinct county and state conventions. A Capitol trip and governor’s balloon day cap the week. Since 1940, 14 154 have attended Boys State in Texas.

Hearne School Board met Monday night and accepted six resignations by teachers including William McClung Jesse Vaught Clrren Corkern Horatio Sad berry Bethany Angel and Jim Batson. Four new teachers were hired Eugene Waits Sandra Ghormly Fannie Measee and Gayle Burbee with roles as freshman coach English instructor mathematics and physical education. Winners Named In Local Annual Youth Tourney
The Hearne Golf Association hosted its Youth Tournament with 34 entrants across four age divisions on the local links Monday. Winners included Bruce Henry and Rusty Russ in the 11-year-old division. top placers in 12-13 were Charles Sandidge, Mark Monroe, Joey Dieckert, and Terry Casey. 14-15 saw Lerry Goryckt triumph with Jerry Haupt, Perry Arthur, and Tom Lanier as runners up. 16-17 was led by Joe Young with Billy Gard finishing second.

North Side School Future Homemakers of America with sponsor Mrs. Wilbur Strong attended the Area VIII FHA leadership conference on June 5 at Memorial Student Center, A&M University College Station. About 500 girls participated in exhibits, talent numbers and a swap shop, then split into workshops covering program of work, degrees of achievement, projects, parliamentary procedure, honorary membership, public relations and secretary treasurer.
