Ballinger Receives Merit at Annapolis Naval Academy

Richard Ballinger of Hearne ranked fourth among twenty two midshipmen completing the second year at the U S Naval Academy Annapolis with distinction. He was the only Texas boy in the class. First through third places of merit went to L L Schock Jr of Pennsylvania R S Burdick of Kansas and H B Bobo of Mississippi.

Brownsville visitors to be joined by Philen family

J Gilbert Philen Jr of Browns ville visits with his parents Mr and Mrs J G Philn. On return trip they will be accompanied by Mr and Mrs Philen senior. Mrs J Gilbert Philen Jr who visited Austin will join the party there.

A & M Graduates Set for Cotton Industry Study Tour

Three Texas A M College graduates, R J Gwin O M Langston and L F Stewart, will depart June 10 for a two month study tour of the cotton industry in the United States and Europe. They were fellowships winners from the 1933 cotton contest funded by Anderson Clayton & Co. The group, led by Prof J S Mogford, will visit ports mills and research centers aided by Curtis Vinson for publicity and material.
