The Living Soul Choir To Leave For Tour June 13
Hearne Baptist youth choir The Living Soul plans a week long concert tour starting June 13 advancing through Arkansas Kentucky and Indiana. The 37 choir members and 10 adult sponsors will perform five or six concerts in Little Rock Owensboro Evansville Louisville and back to Hearne with home stays and meals provided by local churches. The group raised over 2000 dollars through cans, car washes, bake sales and donations, while rehearsals and fundraising dominated their weeks.

Kathryn Slagle Receives Four Year Shell Scholarship
Kathryn Slagle, a Hearne High senior, was awarded a four year Shell Company Merit Scholarship. Presented by R W Guthrie of the Shell Houston office, the award supports Shell employees or former employees. Slagle was chosen by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation from about 700 Shell candidates based on tests from 1970 and leadership. She plans to study education at LSU.
