Airman John A Mounce completes basic training and advances in air traffic control tied to Keesler AFB Mississippi. A 1960 Hearne High School graduate he attended Baylor University in Waco.
A half inch rainfall saved dry pastures in Wheelock and nearby areas. Farmers report low stock water but welcomed moisture. A social gathering features Mrs Jesesyhine Seamardo, Mrs Savaggio and relatives from New Orleans and Houston enjoying peaches and peafowl feathers. A strawberry preserves recipe using figs is shared. Visitors include Mrs R E Kilby of New Port News now in Fort Worth visiting Elizabeth Curry and W G Curry in Bryan.
A proposed Texas constitutional amendment to add new notice and approval steps for laws affecting conservation and reclamation districts will be placed on the November 1964 ballot. The measure requires publication of notice 30 to 90 days prior and delivery of the bill to the Governor and Water Commission for review before voting.

Gallah er Jr. and her son Bobby, along with Mrs. Georgia Hunt and Dawn, left Hearne Friday for home in St Louis after a week with the Hudsons in Hearne.
