Statewide opposition to a general sales tax is being organized from Mumford in Robertson County. Robertson County Buys Strongly Despite Recession
Robertson County reports 1960 buying power of 17 618 000 with 4 097 per household, while retail sales reached 16 250 000. The local market outpaced some national areas, aided by non durable goods gains and service sectors, though autos and furniture lagged amid a recession. Outsider shopping appears to inflate the county’s buying power index beyond local spending. Hearne Western Week festivities begin with street events, rodeos, and a parade, featuring Queen Carol Altimore and princesses, leading to a weekend finale with rodeo contests and a Dalton Gang stage coach robbery reenactment.
