Early History of Wheelock Texas Article Summary
Howard R. Smith recounts Wheelock in Robertson County as a small Texas town founded by Col. Sterling C. Robertson and Col. E. L. R. Wheelock. It notes early settlements, the 1834 deadline, structures like the church and school, Cameron residence, and notable pioneers including W. C. Cavitt and N. C. Duncan. The piece mentions Sam Houston rumors, the old cedar log cabin fort tale, and Wheelock as Robertson County’s first county seat.
