Chief E H McCoslin said Hearne saw the lightest arrest record since his tenure during the New Year week ending January 2. The highway patrol had two driving while intoxicated arrests. city police jailed two for disorderly conduct at a tavern. Sheriff E P Elliott noted Robertson County cases were sparse with only one arrest for cattle theft in a neighboring county.

Renewal notices mailings will occur soon with some arriving later due to a new process managed by the Texas Highway Department and state penitentiary inmates sorting notices by ZIP code. Hearne Weather Turns Frigid After Warm Christmas Day
After a 71 degree Thursday in Hearne, temperatures plunged to 14 degrees Friday morning. The sequence included highs of 26 on Friday, 40 on Saturday, and 31 with rain and sleet Sunday. The week ended with a 37 degree high Monday and 38 degree low Tuesday as winds shifted south in the late afternoon.
