Varsity Eagles Face Manor Cameron After Strong Week

The Hearne Eagles, 18-13 on Monday, added two wins last week and planned trips to Manor on Tuesday and Cameron on Friday to close regular play. Led by Lester Davis and Rusty Russ, Hearne beat Westlake 45-40 and edged Rosebud-Lott 71-67, with Pierce 14 and Davis 14 guiding the offense.

Franklin Banquet Speaker Named

Bill G. Bradley, vice president of engineering and construction for Texas Utilities TP&L, will speak at the Franklin Chamber of Commerce banquet on Friday March 5 at 8 p m in the Roland Reynolds School auditorium. He will discuss the generating plant to be built at the Duck Creek site ten miles north of Franklin. Dr Greer to address Baptist workers meeting in Calvert

Dr Gene Greer program planning secretary of the Texas Missions Commission in Dallas will be guest speaker Tuesday night at seven oclock at the monthly Baptist workers conference in the First Baptist Church of Calvert. Hearne School Board Sets Election for April 3

The Hearne School Board, in a February meeting, voted to hold an April 3 election to fill three board vacancies. Incumbents Pursley place five Kennamer place six and Florence place seven will term out. Dr Henry Benarden noted the district will join the city in conducting the election.

Hearne WWI Veterans Meet February 16

The Hearne Veterans of World War I and their auxiliary will hold a meeting February 16 at the Hearne Community Center on Davis Street. Lunch will be a pot luck served at 12 noon. Meetings occur the third Monday of each month, with daytime hours to accommodate out of town and ancillary members.

Waco Man Hired as Hearne City Manager

Hearne City Council in a special session on February 5 named A. K. Stienheimer of Waco as city manager to start February 23. He succeeds Jim Harless who will focus on city engineer duties and utilities management, with Harless seeking full‑time administrative roles. Stienheimer, 62, has led the Heart of Texas Council of Governments since 1968 after serving as Beaumont City Manager and holding multiple Texas city and state engineering roles. He and his wife were previously residents of Waco. he has two children.
