The 24th annual Hearne Invitational Golf Tournament will be held at the local links on Saturday and Sunday April 23-24. An 18 hole blind bogey event features five flights with daybreak start and a 1 p.m. tee time limit. Net proceeds go to the Hearne Golf Association building fund.

Wife Charged With Husband Death in Hearne
Mrs. Patricia Fachorn of Hearne was charged with murder after her husband Ned Fachorn died at Robertson County Community Hospital. He was shot twice at 1205 Market Street around 1 10 a.m. and taken to hospital by Heartfield Ambulance. Bond set at 2500. Investigators are Hearne Sgt Elmer Golden and James Buckley. The case awaits Robertson County Grand Jury findings. The couple, longtime Hearne residents, married about 20 years.

Composer Mike Mathis Performs At Memorial
Mike Mathis son of Mr and Mrs C R Mathis of Hearne visited Stephenville on Friday to honor western artist Randy Steffen who died January 17 at his Dublin ranch. Steffen, 59, famed artist sculptor and author, once lived with Sioux Indians and was an expert on the U S Cavalry. His cremation and scattering of ashes occurred January 23 over the Wichita Mountains Oklahoma. Memorial services were held February 4 at Stephenville High School Auditorium with Maj Gen George S Patton III delivering the eulogy. Mathis performed an original piece titled Randy written for Steffen.

Hearne highway patrolmen nabbed two aliens and jailed them locally along with one held on an out of county warrant one for possession of a controlled substance and one drunk pedestrian. City officers arrested one on an out of county warrant two for no drivers license one for illegal train riding and one for public intoxication.
