E B Basye recalls arriving in Dallas in 1871 with J W Basye after leaving Jefferson City Missouri. He describes markets, roads, churches, and early leaders, and notes Dallas rising with the Houston and Texas Central railroad in 1872 and later booms and busts linked to the Texas and Pacific Railway. The anecdote recalls Uncle Tom at a Markham Ainsworth store who could not provide cheese and sold axle grease and crackers to an old man. The W M S of the Reprint church held its business meeting with a devotional service. Members discussed church affairs and organized future activities, emphasizing service and community outreach.
The Woman's Missionary Society of the Methodist church met Monday at 3 45 in the church basement for a combined business and study session. Mrs H W Cummings presided and Mrs J L Stephens conducted the study hour. The next meeting for study will be Monday February 13 at the church.
