Boston widow helps disabled veterans run sales exchange
Mrs. Clar ence R. Edwards of Boston wife of Major General Edwards who commanded the Twenty sixth division in France has founded a veteran exchange to aid disabled men. Starting April 10 with $2000 from friends she opened a downtown shop where ex service men consign products they manufacture. The venture has generated thousands in earnings for World War I veterans with items from canoes and belts to hand woven homespuns and jewelry. Proceeds go to hospitals or patients each month.

Howard Barrett of Sheboygan Wisconsin is named national vice commander of the American Legion. A veteran of Spanish American and World Wars, born in Wooster Ohio, he studied at the University of Wooster and the University of Illinois medical school. He served as physician at the Palmer House in Chicago before commissioning as a major in the United States Volunteer Engineers during the Spanish American War. He served with the Forty First Volunteer Infantry in the Philippines until 1901, later taking command in Wisconsin duties.
