County Attorney Russ Announces Retirement From Office
County Attorney Bryan F. Russ said on Tuesday February 3 that he will not seek another term. He will serve until January 1 1977 and then join Palmos and Russ Law Offices in Hearne. Russ, elected in 1952, began duties January 1 1953 and built a reputation among Central Texas prosecutors. He opened his Hearne law office January 24 1950 after earning an LL B from the University of Texas and serving three years in the Navy in World War II. Russ and his wife Betty have four children: Karan Russ Victoria Becky Russ Austin Rusty Russ Jr. and Charles Russ.

College Spokesmen To Explain Programs At Calvert High
Representatives from colleges universities trade schools and other agencies will be at Calvert High School on Monday February 16 from 6:30 p m to 10 p m to acquaint students and parents with available educational programs. The event also features military services to explain options for graduates. Hearing Vision Tests Concluded By PTA
The Hearne PTA completed vision and hearing testing at East Side Elementary, following a prior week at North Side School. PTA volunteers and school staff conducted the tests, with over 200 children screened by volunteers led by Mrs. Dick Shear, Mrs. Craig Hawthorne, Mrs. Mary Anna Anderson, Mrs. Charles Miller, and Mrs. Nunzio Salvaggio. Hearne Eagles defeated Caldwell 49 36 at home and Leander 56 54 on the road to improve their district 8 2 mark. Coach Larry Brown praised Bruce Henry for four first quarter free throws and noted Lester Davis led scoring with 16 and 14 points in the Caldwell and Leander games respectively. Davis sealed the Leander win with a late jumper as Hearne kept a tight defense and rebounding pace.

Disabled Veterans To Claim Tax Exemptions
Robertson County veterans officer L L Perkins says Texas disabled veterans widows and children can claim property tax exemptions this year under a 1975 law. Eligible are service connected disabilities of 10 percent or more or widows of those veterans and eligible minor children. The exemption applies statewide and tax offices determine required evidence. VA benefits recipients will receive eligibility letters.
