The Buckner Children s Home in Dallas and Buckner Ranch Burnet thank supporters for arranging Thanksgiving meals for 420 and 72 boys respectively. The meals were a real treat thanks to generous community help and the 44 hp donation noted.

Hearne appoints Baxter as chief of police
W O Baxter of Franklin was chosen by the Hearne City Council to serve as chief of police, to assume duties January 1, 1948. Baxter was then Robertson County deputy sheriff. Calvert Trojans, coached by Cotton Evans, won the bi district title by defeating A M Consolidated 11 to 10 on Friday night. The game was tied 6 6 with both teams advancing twice. Calvert fullback Billy Meier scored the TD. T E Reynolds and Ira Myers returned from a deer hunt near Llano. Dr T A Searcy was named city health officer. Mrs C B Franklin and Mr and Mrs Ross Seale were guests of Dr Ross Donn from Corpus Christi at a venison dinner at Killough ranch the previous Tuesday.
