Mrs Nannie Curtis national figure and state president of the W C T U spoke at the Baptist church Sunday morning December 1 on temperance and allied topics to a large audience. On Monday afternoon she addressed the city ladies, with her lectures enjoyed by listeners.
W O Wood resumes here after a visit to Houston, reporting a very successful operation. His many friends will be glad to learn he is improving and well on the road to recovery.
Last week many residents hosted and visited relatives and friends. Mrs. Lillian Thanksgiving joined Bruce Grant at Bryan. Madeline Dillard visited Mrs. M. The C. R. McCrary family hosted in 2 ton, C Langford and wife were guests, and Misses Katie and Jes Wilson spent days in Calvert. Eva McMillian and Lois Reynolds stayed in Waco for Thanksgiving with relatives. N. G. Smith Jr. returned to Dallas, Sam Rogers spent Sunday here, and Miss Doris Reynolds returned home after visiting Hearne relatives. Bob Hurt of San Antonio visited relatives here. Miss Lucy Curry and Miss Fay Tyn Grant-Prairie hosted friends, while Ruth Jones, Erline Faircloth, Alice Truett, and Ruth Gray took turns visiting local homes.
Carnival schedule lists Nigro and Loos engagement with a high class show. Capt Scott leads a troupe including lions and other acts such as the Malay strongman and a nine-member group. Other performances include big city minstrels, singers and dancers, a swimming girl, a roulette wheel, and a Prof can Band.
In Hearne Union Thanksgiving services were held in the morning at the Methodist church with a vocal choir program and an able sermon by Rev. Frazier. Evening exercises at the Baptist church featured the President's Proclamation read by Rev. Mc Gee, plus talks by Dr. H. W. Cummings J Felton Lane and A Icyda of Kobe Japan. The Hearne Baraca band provided patriotic music and the program closed with Mr Secoda delivering an informative address comparing American and Indian Kingdom customs.
Franklin Texas Nov 22 Mrs M E Holloman longtime Robertson County resident died at Normangee Wednesday and was buried there the next day She was the wife of W W Holloman who also died in the county.
The editor calls attention to the card of Messrs. Perry and Woods of Franklin. The firm is praised as clean, honorable and capable lawyers qualified to handle all business entrusted to their charge. Both gentlemen are well known in the county and require no further commendation.
