Outdoors in Texas by Vern Sanford
Family campers in 1962 faced crowding as many gave up due to scarce camping spots. National figures show 6,106,030 camp-use days in 1962, a 14 percent rise, with public lands offering basic facilities. Campers seek comfort alongside nature, aided by longer vacations and Scouts activity, making Texas a potential civic project for improving sites.
