Governor Signs Many New Laws

Austin Texas reports Governor Miriam A Ferguson signed 27 general laws on Monday. Measures include penalties for unlawful search without a warrant, bans on open cut-outs for motor cars, transfers of relief duties to Daughters of the Confederacy and Daughters of the Republic, higher county tax assessor pay, creation of water improvement districts, extended Stephens County district court, safeguards on personal property, and various district reorganizations. Also approved are old probate record transcriptions, a two year rainbow trout season, rail and gas regulations, and state land sale to extend Fort Bliss.

Wig Ridge holds 50,000 acres around the structure as producers appear in Wichita County with new wells and revived activity amid gas output records in February. Water scarcity halts some drilling in Lockhart and a well near Three Rivers is brought under control with potential output of seven million cubic feet. Finnell No 2 Tiller near Luling is noted for a 500 barrel per day rating.

Employee Killed in Oil Rig Accident at Luling

In Luling Texas a 26 year old employee of the Grayburg Oil Company was instantly killed when caught in machinery at the standard rig power house. He was whirled about until his bones were broken and his brains dashed out, according to local reports from BE. The accident occurred a few days ago and is being investigated by company officials and local authorities.
