Early arrivals tee off at daybreak Sunday for the 11th Hearne Golf Tournament at the municipal course. Over 200 out of town golfers plus locals expected in the one day blind bogey event with more than $800 in awards across five flights. A pitching and driving contest also offers prizes. Tournament begins at daybreak with no tee offs after 1 p.m. Saturday rounds possible. an alternate course may reopen Sunday to ease traffic. Hearne FFA hosts its 20th annual project show Saturday with registrations at 8 a.m. judging in four departments begins at 9 a.m. and showmanship contest at 11 a.m. Grand Champion chosen at 4:30 p.m. A public auction proceeds at 2 p.m. in downtown Hearne. Judges include Bill Holtzapple and Bill Shaw. Five beef classes, three poultry, seven swine, two shop. prizes include 25 dollars for Grand Champion and first showmanship, 15 for reserve, 10 for first in division.
