John D. Haar won a Hayward City Council seat Tuesday with 847 votes, beating Leo Palmtng by 287 and Neal Stanger by 803. The city rejected a city manager form of government 551 yes to 1,850 total votes cast from 3,312 registered voters as precinct tallies showed Haar, owner of Maar Pickle Prod, is a lifelong local resident in his first campaign.

Negro Sailor Afraid Of Ammunition At Port Chicago Probe
