Sugar factory in busy season at Alvarado
The Holly corporation beet sugar plant in Alvarado is operating around the clock with about 200 workers across two shifts. Daily output includes 1100 tons of beets processed and 4000 sacks of sugar made. W H Ziegler manages the Alvarado plant as well as a Holly facility at Tracy. A new drying machine now dries all beet pulp, replacing previous sales to dairymen. A large warehouse is under construction for storage of sugar and pulp.
