Multiple Deaths Reported In Police Blotter Curbs
Three deaths were noted in the police blotter over the weekend. John Rogers Simpson, 39, a pharmacist at Oak Kool Hospital, died by self-inflicted gunshot at 4:30 a.m. near 485 Hathaway. He left a nervous-breakdown history and is survived by wife Helen and son. John J. Dowting, 12, died yesterday at Hayward Hospital after a wrist and throat slashing and possible ant poison. Funeral by Prat-Plier Mortuary. Charles Taines Warner, 67, Crow Canyon Road, died of a heart attack. Survived by wife Bessie and two children. funeral arrangements pending.

Two sailors and a San Leandro resident reported separate robberies over the weekend. Four men allegedly picked up hitchhiking servicemen, forced them at gunpoint into isolated streets, and robbed them of cash and personal items.
