Lee Lahr Shot Dead in Accidental Revolver Discharge
Lee Lahr 54, an extra barber in Hayward and San Leandro, was shot through the heart and killed today at noon when he handed a revolver to his brother in law J Barkley a baker of the Angelus hotel Oakland. Barkley said the gun discharged as he took it from Lahr after noting the sights were off. Barkley was questioned and the case referred to the District Attorney. Lahr lived with his wife on Wilbeam Ave and had worked in several local shops.

Broken Leg Keeps Boy in Hospital Through Christmas
Johnny Medlhany, a high school lad, is recovering at Central Hospital from a broken leg. He has lost about twenty five pounds and remains immobilized by a heavy jaw and limb brace for about three more weeks. A fire on Monday evening near 1140 D Street consumed the private garage on the Peter Galia property. Flames fed by an open gasoline tank attracted hundreds while firefighters contained the blaze and protected adjacent homes. The tank burned dry after the fire alarm at 7 20 p m, with no explosion due to the tank’s open top.
