City Hall Bond Election Moves Forward
Hayward council votes four to one to call a special election on bonds for three projects. Adds 20 000 to 45 000 for a city hall, 35 000 to buy a hall site, and 20 000 to extend a fall saver from Telegraph road to the city limits. Trustee Wilbur opposes the plan citing overbuilt needs and favors a 345 000 project on Castro street. The election date will be set at the next meeting on November 2.

Estuary Tube Nears Completion on West Coast
On Saturday the final segment of the Oakland Alameda estuary tube will be positioned, nearly finishing the first west coast subway tunnel of its kind.
