Lester Foley, Hayward attorney and critic of the army's military justice, will defend four American civilians in German cases and the murder of a German girl. Joined by Major Earl Carroll, they depart Sunday by United Airlines from New York, onward to Shannon, Paris, and Frankfurt. Cases to be handled include forgery and possession of counterfeit currency charges against John M. Logsdon, Alvin F. P. Bockraider, Henry E. Grewe, and William C. McKinley, plus Daniel P. Walezal's murder case. Carroll, released from Camp Lejune, seeks to continue challenging military courts.
W D Pulterson, chair of the Southern Alameda County water district, said residents may participate in a proposed 600000 Hetch Hetchy water project. Oakland dispatch reports Bay Area traffic deaths including Wayne Co. Cook 31 El Cerrito, who died from late Wednesday crash injuries. Veteran Robert Grizele 20 Vallejo suffered a broken nose. Charles H. Mickelson 54 Oakland died when a Greyhound bus he drove on Tormey hill near Carquinex bridge plunged 200 feet, bus overturning into a residential street. James F. Price 26 Vallejo provided the driver account.
Three 19 year old Maynard youths faced jail terms from 30 to 70 days after appearing before Justice of the Peace Jacob Murdock for game law violations linked to a deer shooting in Cull Canyon. Lester Hamny Dixon Avenue, Donald D Vierra Memphis Avenue, and Joseph A Stern Grand Street faced multiple counts including shooting a deer without a license and shooting at night with a 22 caliber rifle. Hamny and Vierra received 20 days for the first two counts, 10 days for the third, five days for the fourth, and 18 days for the fifth, to run consecutively. Nationalists claim gains across Manchuria with three Tu Li Min columns advancing 2 to 50 miles in days. Center columns move 45 miles from Matang to Fengchenhsien near Antung, while east column fights toward Trmn ehwa 130 miles northeast of Antung as La Kang Pao reports suburbs of Chefoo entered with weak resistance, a claim not independently confirmed.

Hayward Army Airfield in Alamedia County is abandoned and handed to the regional War Assets Administration in San Francisco for disposal. Negotiations with Hayward city for a line to the 704 acre field will start soon. city may receive title without charge but must maintain and return it in national emergencies.
Los Angeles DA Pred Howser plans to ask the county grand jury next Tuesday to indict ex-convict Albert A. Tony Adams for the murder of State Highway Patrolman Steve Sudel. A former deserter, slated for municipal court yesterday, faces the preliminary hearing. Beverly Lounsbury, 29, who dated Adams the night Sudel was killed, visited the jail and said she felt sorry for him.
