Two sisters Janette and Ruth Lee narrowly escaped serious injury when their car was struck by a Western Pacific passenger train at NJewer A street crossing in Hayward. The wig wag signal was reported not operating as the car crossed just after a freight train passed. the Western Pacific detour caused the train to use Southern Pacific tracks.

Hutchins Hearing on Liquor Charges Set for Oct 14
Charles Sylvia and W A Hutchins were arrested on four liquor counts. Sylvia pled guilty in Judge Harders court to possession sale and transportation and was fined 500 dollars.
