Unassisted 1925 Triple Play Stuns Baseball Fans
In 1925 the unassisted triple play occurred for the only time, with Glenn Wright of the Pittsburgh Pirates making the feat on May 7 against St Louis. The record notes seven total triple plays across the majors that year, including several by Philadelphia, Chicago, and New York teams, while the Pirates, Cardinals, and Robins were among the victims. The list of occurrences spans May 1 to September 22, highlighting Wright’s unique achievement among a sparse season of triple plays.
