Children to be Vaccinated in May Ward
The County Health Department immunization program begins at Sunset School in Maynard Arres on Thursday. Diphtheria shots will be given to pre school children and those never immunized, and three year unvaccinated children will receive booster doses. Council to Consider Army Airport Tonight
An engineer report on the Hayward Army airport is expected tonight to be submitted by the Hayward Area Chamber of Commerce as the city council meets at o clock. Authorization to apply for a permit to operate the airfield is expected to be requested at tonight’s meeting. Commander Charlen E. Gibson, former commander, who has represented the chamber at Washington, DC, returned Thursday from two weeks in the capital.

Hayward Acres sets up a Recreation Advisory Group with a three member committee led by Mrs. Jack Dancer. The group, to serve Hayward Acres, will operate as Hayward Acres Recreation District with by laws drawn by a seven club committee chaired by David Pompson. First officers include Mrs. Joseph Sellers as president and Ralph Billing as treasurer. Membership is open to all residents with a civic stake. Missing youngster Dickie Suden sought by 180 soldiers in Downieville
A search party of 180 soldiers widened today for three year old Dickie Suden member of a prominent California family missing since Thursday. Bloodhounds tried to trail the child near the family mountain home near Goodyears Bar while two FBI agents remained on scene unofficially. Brush Creek employees said the family had received several crank letters but none pointed to the child’s whereabouts.

Fire damages home and car in early morning blaze
An early morning fire at 1203 Ruus Lane in Tennyson destroyed a house, a car, and hay totaling a $20,000 loss. Occupants Whiney Starling and Mr. Harold Gentry were evacuated after Mrs. Gentry smelled smoke. Fire crews from Alvarado and Poirview responded at 2:30 a.m.

Two men sought after Hayward street robbery and assault
Hayward police search for two men who slugged and robbed 53 year old Fred Mallory on Castro street Sunday morning near Grace street. He was asked for change, struck, knocked down, then taken to a vacant lot where the attackers stole $7.40 and his wallet containing personal papers.
