Hayward Bands To Lead San Leandro Cherry Festival parade
Hayward will send two brass bands to the Seventeenth Annual Cherry Festival in San Leandro May 24 to 29. Frank E. Perera will serve as grand marshal of the Hayward Division and lead the parade. Jacob Harder Jr. chairs the May 26 concert evening as part of Cherry City Music Week with local officials coordinating the events. Over seventy five entries have been received for the parade. Captain J H Hile notes mounted aides will assist police.

Hayward reports fire loss of more than 25 dollars over eighteen months remains unprecedented on the Pacific Coast.
