Hayward Electric Works Moves to Oil Fuel for Plant

The Hayward Electric Light Works plans a leepe reservoir behind the plant to switch from coal to oil. A 13600 gallon tank will sit below ground, with oil arriving from Bakersfield in large tanks. Gravity will feed a second tank in a tow truck built by the agricultural works, an idea attributed to Chisholm & Farrell, and soon copied in San Francisco. Oil then flows by gravity to a reservoir and is pumped to the furnace. The project, costing over 1000, aims to yield price gains once realized.
