Youth Finds Rare Animal Specimens
Les Kent Jr of 915 Western Boulevard joined the Hayward Rock and Minerals group for a Saturday field day. He uncovered petrified wood, a fragment of camel bone, and the oldest camel tooth the group has found. The site near Bolinger Creek is new to their investigations. The tooth dates to the Miocene Age, at least, possibly older.

Tragic 12-Year-Old Found Dead In Back Yard
12 year old Ger ald Tage, son of Deputy Sheriff Gerald I. Hagan, was found dead hanging from a walnut tree in the family yard by two playmates. Despite artificial respiration and a fire department resuscitator used for over an hour, he could not be revived. Services are planned for Wednesday at Sprenger brothers chapel.
