Local power trouble leaves streets in darkness
Walter Bullock a trained nurse and Will Van Hoosear returned to Oakland after weeks apart while Henry Bertram from Mt Eden, a Hayward High School graduate, visited with Joe Prowse. Suburban Electric workers connected street arc lights to the Standard Company supply but a local plant arc machine broke, leaving the town briefly dark. Temporary lamps will be used until the main line arrives from the plant. Foreman Surge says the old plant will close in about a month and rewiring costs reflect skilled labor and material prices.
