It also notes free trial bottles and local druggists, plus a critique of free notices for out of town business and a local printing office as the proper place to spend money.
The Hayward Hotel in Oakland lists recent arrivals including Miss E. J. The electric railway line serving Oakland and San Leandro operates with a lime zebra schedule. Morning and afternoon cars run at intervals from 6:80 to 3:86 with service noted for Elmhurst and connections to Seventh Street and Webster Street. Sunday service begins with the first car from Thaywird Club House at 7 A.M.
Annual Star Poll Tax due for all male residents aged twenty one to sixty except paupers and insane persons. Tax payable at the office in the Court House or to a deputy assessor. Payment must be made between the specified dates to comply with the Political Code.
The text states that the assessor must demand poll tax from every capable person and may seize personal property to cover nonpayment. It also specifies penalties for obstructing collection, including a misdemeanor, fines up to six dollars, or imprisonment in the county jail, or both fine and imprisonment.
