His brothers in the Army Air Corps include Lt Col Harry Hubbard in Washington, Capt Lloyd Hubbard reported missing in action over France, and Melvin Hubbard at an aviation mechanics school in New Mexico. Hubbard is married to Margaret Arlsten of Castro Valley. the Hubbard family has long ties to Hayward and San Jose State College.

Two Richmond Shipyard No. 4 officials indicted by the Federal Grand Jury for petty graft were freed on $2500 bail. John E. Brnchard, Oakland, assistant manager, and Robert Byers, Richmond, maintenance superintendent, allegedly used Maritime Commission lumber to build bunk beds for their children.
