Seventy five dogs were saved from a blaze gutting a $10,000 kennel and home on Foothill Boulevard, Ashland. Fire officials estimate $2,000 in water and smoke damage. no injuries. Owner May Perkins woke to barking and attempted to battle the blaze before calling for help. Authorities say some dogs may be missing despite a full check underway.

A large 17 ton wooden plant load on a 43 foot trailer overturned on its side at the corner of Davis Street and San Leandro Boulevard in San Leandro on Wednesday. Driver Lionel Moore of 634 Waf fiking Street was not injured after attempting a left turn at about 10 mph. the load remained secured by truck chains. Owned by Warren Transportation, the incident was attributed to a topheavy load.
Domingo Valin a 28 year old former professional boxer was found guilty in Centerville justice court yesterday on two charges of battery and one of disturbing the peace He was arrested after a free for all at a Newark dance pavilion on December 22 Valin requested probation and his case was continued for sentencing to February etc
Morris Nussenbaum resumes his post as manager of the Economy department store after 314 years with the Army Air Corps ending on terminal leave. He served in exchanges in Oklahoma and other states and attended officer candidate school in Miami Florida. He lives with his wife Jeanette and their newborn daughter Sandra on Main Street. His sister, Mise Amit Nussenbaum, previously managed the store.
George F L Parriar takes over duties as Hayward Librarian after resigning post as UC Berkeley library supervisor. He earned an MA in librarianship in 1945 and plans to move to Hayward with wife Grace Petersen and children Coral, Ray, and Ann Louise. He studied at Stanford and previously worked for Pacific Gas and Electric.
In Dachau concentration camp today ten Russian nationals, including former conscripts, reportedly killed themselves to avoid deportation from the American zone to the Soviet Union. The Navy said Inday that his Red Dog Drone was presumed to have crashed in the sea. The Red Dog Drone was a tiny pilotless Culver Cadet low wing monoplane used by the Navy for electronics experiments.
