He has led in recreation development, school pensions, and civil service reforms, serving as a pillar of the hayward chamber, Rotary, and multiple service clubs while earning the title father of the recreation system in local schools.
A dinner in Hayward announced a rise to 76 000 servicemen in the area from 50 000. The gala gathering, with 6 000 servicemen, featured a Victory show by Fleet City Orchestra and stars like George Burns and Mickey Rooney. Reports stated rapid camp growth and adaptability for military needs.

Aimed at wounded servicemen in Alameda County hospitals, volunteers deliver equipment and messages to patients and forward replies to loved ones. A. Roe of Hayward leads the Southern Alameda effort with Hugh S. Bullederga of Oakland handling the paint unions. Initiated before Christmas, the drive sent 6,600 messages from western federal hospitals to 5,000 homes nationwide.
Kenneth V Bunce 41 manager of Bank of America Hayward branch died Monday morning at Merritt Hospital Oakland He came to Hayward in 1928 to head the local branch and lived with wife Bia L and son Donald Richard 8 at 423 McKeaver Avenue

Survived by widow and son, parents Mr and Mrs Harry Bunce of Napa, sister Mrs MM Hevessey of Napa, brother Harald Bunce of Spu' Mateo. Funeral at Sorensen Bros Chapel, 7 p m Wednesday, interment Napa. Born November 5, 1941, he rose from local schooling to banking, later managing Napa Brentwood Hayward branches. He served Kiwanis in Napa, Lions in Brentwood, Rotarian in Tay Ward, president 1941, known among Rotary friends as a skilled hunter and host.
Alameda County Farm Production committee will meet Wednesday afternoon January 5 at 1 30 PM at the Fee Bureau headquarters for an important conference. John J G Busch of Pleasanton is chairman and secretary of the county Farm Bureau. The meeting follows last year’s fish for food production effort aiding county labor and food production. Tony August, longtime assistant fire chief, is promoted to head the Hayward Fire Department replacing Manuel Q. Riggs who served 36 years as chief and 45 years with the department. The change comes as Riggs retires after 184 fires and about 15,715 dollars in total damage last year.
Motor vehicle registration for 1944 begins this week across California. Owners may apply at the State DMV, Highway Patrol offices, City Hall in Hayward, or by mail with the 1943 certificate. Fees and deadlines are posted at service stations. February 4 is the registration deadline.
