The Hayward district weather bureau reports 11.95 inches of rainfall, surpassing normal and last year's figures. Temperatures dropped to 31 degrees after heavy rain with hail episodes. Traces of snow were reported from San Leandro as the storm continued Wednesday night.

Hayward Council Rebuffs Water District Agreement
The Hayward city council rejects a proposed water-sharing pact with Eden Township Water District over a 20 cents per thousand gallons charge for water drawn from a new well near Jackson street. The council favors emergency use only and recognizes the district’s concerns about farming supplies. The agreement also notes the city will abandon the new well when Hetch Hetchy water becomes available, while retaining Alvarado wells.
