Stanley Stephens Injured in San Leandro Car Crash
Stanley Stephens son of Mr and Mrs Bert Stephens of 1472 B street sustained an injury to his left foot in a Monday night automobile crash near the San Leandro tracks. He was among seven youths from Fruitvale and Berkeley en route to Hayward when a collision with another car forced a pole strike. The party was taken to Fairmont county hospital where doctors weigh whether the foot is broken. The accident mirrors a prior Stephens family crash last summer in Arizona injuring Stanley’s brother Bert in a motorcycle wreck.

Grand Chief Companion Nellie Graves presided. nearly 750 attendees included San Francisco and Oakland officers. Joseph Redd a 43 year old Oakland junkman living at 934 72nd Street was sentenced to six months in county jail after pleading guilty to stealing a wheelchair belonging to James E. Forrest, World War I veteran living on Hampton Road. The chair was stolen in December from Forrest’s porch, two days after Redd allegedly tried to bar him from the chair.
