William Edward Hickman, the confessed kidnapper and slayer of 12 year old Marian Parker, was judged sane by an eight man and four woman jury at 3:05 PM. The verdict found him sane at the time of both the kidnapping and the murder in Los Angeles.
James Schwartz a native of Ohio and Hayward resident for 24 years died Thursday morning February 9 after a lengthy illness. He was 75 and a contractor with a wide circle of friends. Survived by sons C S Schwartz Castro Valley and Co PF Schwartz Hollister. daughters Laura Schiappi Toledo Lena Kennedy Los Angeles Louvisa Schwartz Waterman. brothers Jacob Florida Samuel Michigan Asselom Oklahoma. sisters Leah Tischer Los Angeles and Elizabeth Henry Michigan. Services at Sorensen Brothers parlors Saturday at 2 p.m. Reverend George Saywell officiating. Cremation at Oakland crematorium at 4 p.m. Saturday.
Hayward Poultry Producers association held an annual dance at Native Sons hall with public attendance. Attendees numbered beyond capacity as KG artists Hembrandt Trio and others performed orchestral and vocal acts for members and families.
The Camp Fire Girls of Castro Valley school will stage an entertainment this Saturday at 2 5 p.m. to raise funds for their annual summer outing. Rehearsals under Miss Veterle and Mrs Poole have prepared two plays. Refreshments will be sold after the performance. Supporters are urged to attend.

At the last Fairview School club meeting officers were installed for the coming term. New officers include President Martha Fry and Vice President Mincie Gulardt with Edith Benns as secretary and Kolinzke as treasurer. Managers are Maud Silva Acanero Has Kili. The event followed a pleasant afternoon with a social and lunch hosted by Mrs. Clara Tomford on Welly Hill.
