Woolworth to occupy Hayward store and begin big sale
J R Coelho announces Woolworth will take over the Toggery store room on Iisbec near the Bank of Italy in Hayward. Lease closed yesterday with remodeling costing about 15000 to 16000 planned to bring interior to Woolworth standard. Coelho, long-time Tex-Serr businessman, will retire after a final large closing-out sale and 15 years in Hayward’s barber trade.

Hayward electors rejected all bond proposals on Tuesday ballots. Proposition 1 for a city hall on Castro Plaza failed 345 yes to 258 no amid 709 total votes, a 127 vote margin. Sewer bonds Proposal 3 also failed by 117 votes. a two-thirds majority is required. The advisory site plaza led by 249 votes over other sites. Earlier bond attempts in 1923 1928 and 1925 sought city hall funding with varying results.
