Alameda county voters to cast ballots in state and county primary

About 215000 Alameda county residents, including Hayward and Eden township voters, are set to vote Tuesday. Ballots go out 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will be counted by 563 election teams totaling 4602 poll workers paid 10 dollars each. County clerk George Gross will pay 7638 inspectors one dollar for delivering ballots. Key contests include Calvert L Bowles vs E H Christian for state senate in the 23rd district and Arthur H Breed unopposed in the 15th. Jost is unopposed for assembly in the 34th. Ralph Richmond faces Leo Wells in the 1st supervisorial district. Mullins’ seat has six candidates in the 5th. no contest in this township. Miss A. Lucas Dies in San Francisco Hospital

Irmena Lucas, 68, of Hayward, died at Fairmont hospital in San Francisco Sunday after a long illness. A native of the Azores, she is survived by nephew Manuel J. Enos of 288 Peralta Street. Funeral services will be at All Eninre church at 10 Tuesday morning, with burial at St Joseph's cemetery. Sorensen Brothers’ mortuary handles arrangements.

Fire damages automobile in Hayward area

Fire broke out about 9 o'clock Sunday morning causing about 30 damage to the car owned by A. Nunes of C street. The vehicle was parked at Castro street and Smakey avenue. Hayward fire department extinguished the blaze within minutes after the alarm was sounded.

About 250 people attended Hayward council Knights of Columbus barbecue at the John Geary ranch in Cull Canyon. Attendees came from Berkeley Alameda Oakland and other areas. 75 Enjoy Party at Masonic Hall

About 75 members of Eucalyptus lodge of Masons and Masonic travelers enjoyed a party at the Masonic hall Saturday night where the hosts were the journers. Two Hayward Hunters Bring Their Bucks

Two Hayward deer hunters, Chief Manuel G. Riggs of the Fire Department and Gene Collins, each shot a two prong buck in the Livermore mountains Sunday. Riggs found his deer on the Allagaloo club ranch where several members, including A J La Cunha Carl Sorensen and Jack Riges, joined a weekend hunt. Collins shot at 7 30 Sunday morning and killed his buck with a heart shot on the second attempt weighing 110 pounds, heavier than typical for a two year old. He hunted with Lee Gore of the Standard Oil Company.

Hayward Man Reported Killed in San Francisco Death

Hayward police reported that Antone Pistanti, a presumed Hayward resident, was killed in San Francisco Sunday night. The police did not specify the cause of death or provide a Hayward address. The body rests at Tracey-Grosso mortuary in San Francisco at 1314 Engune Street.
