Final Rites Held For San Lorenzo Native Pioneer
William H A Baker longtime San Lorenzo resident and Fraternal Order of Eagles member died Wednesday morning at his home. Funeral services were held Friday at the Sorensen Brothers mortuary with many relatives and friends in attendance. The Rev Robinson spoke of his life while pallbearers from the Eagles lodge carried the casket to the California columbarium in Oakland for final interment. He leaves his wife Mattie, a sister Minnie Hunter and brothers John and William Baker. Baker was 53 and a native of San Lorenzo.

The former Hayward resident Mrs Emilie Galloway died in San Jose at her son William James Galloway's home. Services were held Friday at San Lorenzo cemetery. She was born in Wales 69 years ago and leaves a bereaved son and many Hayward friends.

Officers Conduct Large Operations In High Finance
District attorney raid squad led by Ine Brandon and George Henningsen of Hayward seized counterfeit money and busted Chinese gambling dens in Emersville. Fines totaled $2340 for the Emergrike justice of the peace and $5220.80 to the county treasury, with $200 in counterfeit currency seized. At 1526 Park avenue 33 suspects were arrested. five jailed for gambling with $106 fines, 30 visitors fined $10. At 1528 Park avenue 46 were arrested. 12 pleaded guilty to gambling, fined $190, others $10. A second raid at 9926 East 14th street yielded Raymond Fristowe and Harold Corum and molds for counterfeit money plus $200 in bogus coins.

Triangle Brings Hayward Man to Book for Theft
Frank Souza, formerly living on lower Jackson Street near the Southern Pacific, was arrested by Oakland police Friday for theft of a Chevrolet coupe. Investigators, led by Chief Louis Silva and Traffic Officer Walter Alves, found his driving certificate altered with a larger typewriter font and erasures. Souza allegedly confessed to stealing the car, claiming the owner had stolen it first, and altered the certificate to swap touring for coupe. Authorities note Souza previously served time at San Quentin for property-crime acts.
