Rum Runner Drowns Near San Francisco Docks
Early today a man known as Gasoline Bill jumped from the captured gasoline launch Gussie M. and drowned in San Francisco Bay near the Fr Mason transport docks. Government agents hold Hiram Becker of San Francisco, owner of the launch, seeking information on liquor smuggling from an unidentified ship offshore. The Gussie M carried about 300 cases of whisky and was seized after a chase for No. 262.

Boy Sells Papers As Citywide Missing Boy Story Spreads
In Redondo Beach a newsboy, five year old Albert J Hiott, peddled papers while reports spread of 11 year old Albert J Hiatt missing for a week in Los Angeles. Scouts searched gullies and police widened a dragnet as readers followed the tale. The younger boy was later found and returned to his mother with tales of a temporary “happy time.”

Plans for Coast Air Line Revealed by New Air Corporation
In Los Angeles on August 11 the Air Corporation announced plans for a complete and regular airline service linking Los Angeles San Francisco Salt Lake and intermediate points. Arctic Planes Start Dash From Ellesmere Island Coast
Three naval planes from the MacMillan arctic expedition took off at 147 this morning over the ice mountains of Ellesmereland. They aim for Bay Fjord to establish a base and expect to complete the dash in about three hours.
