Yamaji Killed In Italy June 15 1944 War Death
Staff Sergeant Bill Yamaji 23 eldest son of Mr and Mrs Sazo Yamaji residents of the Granada Colorado Relocation Center was killed in action June 15 1944 in Italy. He volunteered January 1940 at Camp Bowie Texas served in Company K 13th Infantry overseas from Camp Edwards Massachusetts to North Africa in 1943 and to Italy in 1944. He was born in Hayward California and later moved to Mountain View where the family ran a berry farm. Surviving siblings include two sisters Kazuko Nakahara Detroit and Alice Miyao Little Rock. brothers Tom Frank and three younger sisters Sumiko Frances and Arlene. The Yamajis moved through several relocation centers before Granada.
