Chicago Packers Announce Open Shop Policy
Open shop prevailed this morning in the packing plants of Swift Armour Wilson and the Cudahy Companies after the Federal Judge Alschuler arbitration expired. Unions are no longer recognized by these four major packers and future disputes will be settled by committees from among the employers. Ninety percent of workers find the new agreement unsatisfactory, with no changes yet planned. Drs G W Phipps M H Handgings Ralph Pinion J C Faris and others visited Bedside of Dr L H Brannon shot earlier today in Caruthersville.

Brannon Shot Dead in Barber Shop Slaying
Dr L H Brannon was shot three times by E S Jimmerson at Graves Barber Shop while in chair and lathered. He died about 30 hours later, authorities report a fatal attack during a barber visit.

Jimmerson Shoots Doctor In Barber Shop Tragedy
In Hayti at 9 15 a.m. Jimmerson entered James Graves barber shop and fired five times at Dr L H Brannon who lay in the chair. Brannon was wounded in the left side and back but was moved to Memphis for care. Jimmerson fled but was captured and jailed. Brannon died later that morning. Brannon, a former mayor and Democratic official, owned a large insurance portfolio and planned to leave for Tulsa. The community reels as details emerge of a feud turned fatal.
