Knife Wound at Hayward Stirs Local Scene
Last Thursday night at Hayward a stabbing occurred during a motion picture show when Will Hicks attacked Preston Pitts who lives near Cowee's mill. Pitts sustained a serious liver wound and was attended by Dr. T. J. Trautsmann. The event disrupted a quiet return from Caruthersville as Pitts and family stopped at the cinema. Meanwhile local notices report Culpepper and Dever relocating their jewelry shop to the southwest room of the city hall and a 100 acre sale by Hayti Real Estate Co. through attorney B. L. Guffy to Hubert Rust for 25 per acre, with Rust planning to rent or buy property in Toryll.
