Local Men Enter Drug Field in Hayti

R N Brasher Earl Ray Buck and T T Martin finish invoicing Dr F F A Elders Drug Store stock and take charge. Brasher plans moving stock and fixtures to the west side of the square within days. Raybuck will manage prescriptions and has earned praise for diligence and Ph D training. Martin, a Frisco engineer, joins as part owner with conservative approach and local ties. The Herald notes the venture should profit and move stock by Saturday week with more announcements forthcoming.

Civic groups plan Clean-Up Day and road funding effort

A joint meeting of the Chamber of Commerce and the Woman's Civic League at the High School Building discussed Clean-Up Day set for Wednesday the 25th and a West road project from Hayti to Kennett. Judge T R Cole explained county funding limits but pledged 1750 dollars and officials noted additional donations could push completion. the Chamber voted 200 dollars to help, with plans to raise the remaining funds.

Fresh Outbreaks in Dublin Violence Rages Across City

Dublin reports a street fighting flare up today leaving a score of persons dead and many wounded. The Customs House was completely destroyed by Sinn Fein forces. Belfast also sees fresh outbreaks with one death and multiple injuries yesterday.

Postmaster General Hays launches a nationwide mail early campaign using trained staff to educate the public and business leaders on prompt letter collection. In Washington the initiative reduces night mail burden by moving 22 night clerks to daylight posts as an example.

Clean-Up Day a Real Fact in Hayti

The Womans Civil League Hayti, the Chamber of Commerce and City officials organized a mass clean-up. Yesterday nine to four, businesses closed as volunteers cleared streets and dumped 59 truckloads of trash into an abandoned ditch. Volunteers at Woodlawn Cemetery weeded and some provided meals. The effort aims to sustain civic harmony and extend booster activities into Decoration Day with cemetery clean-up planned.

Dr Murray Taylor Delivers Address at Hayti High Commencement

The Eighth Annual Hayti High School commencement was held in the auditorium. President John T. Buckley introduced graduates Edith Davin and Warren Ray, with Superintendent C. E. Hooker, Dr J Murray Taylor, and Rev J D Nichol in procession. The program featured a chorus performance and remarks praising Dr Taylor. Buckley presented diplomas to the graduates after brief remarks.

First German War Criminal Sentence Handed Down

Leipzig May 26 The first sentence given German war criminals was handed down today under the Versailles treaty. Former German army sergeant Karl Heynen was sentenced to ten months imprisonment for abusing British prisoners and must pay the prosecution costs.
