Pemiscot County Medical Society gathered last Thursday for a day of recreation and frolic aboard Pemiscot Bayou at Newt Maxwell's Steele home. Dr F A Mayes and Dr John son of Memphis spoke. Hon A L Oliver of Caruthersville spoke briefly. A fine barbecue and fish dinner was served and guests received a cordial welcome.

Miss Edith Suddarth reportedly dead and Mrs Z K Smith steps in to wed her fiancé Mr Smith. Smith, a Beaumont Texas real estate dealer, traveled to Memphis Monday with his sister for the ceremony. Suddarth had been a New York Store saleslady and buyer aid, beloved by patrons. Mrs Smith is cousin to Mrs Wm York of Hayti.
J A Rust, a prosperous farmer near town, visited the trading post Saturday and added his name to the reader list. He is among citizens bringing new life and a better society to the country, reflecting a growing local spirit.
Local note honors Henry Schulze known as Uncle Henry for his daily helper role in town. Residents say the handy man keeps the community running and are grateful for his steady service and friendly presence.

Denver o June 22 A $25 000 sneeze is linked to radium loss at Standard Chemical Co Pittsburg. President Joseph M Flannery says a chemist over a radium receptacle lost control of a sneezer and $25 000 worth of radium disappeared before recovery.
Dan Heard, who traveled from Cape Girardeau to visit relatives, returned home Monday after a brief stay and contributing two dollars to the Herald’s treasury. He had been receiving two copies but will switch to one while working at the Cape. He spent Thursday night with his sister Mrs Tom Sample and family in Caruthersville.
Mrs J W McFarland departed this week for Colorado and will stay until sometime in September. She is accompanied by Miss Letitia McFarland a Caruthersville Democrat.
The twenty months old infant of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wilbanks living near town died on Thursday and was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery on Friday.
James T. Blair of Jefferson City, the supreme court commissioner by appointment, toured Hayti twice on Saturday. He is a Democratic candidate for supreme judge, traveling the state to drum up support. Blair impressed locals with his amiable nature and magnetism, drawing many friends during his visit.
A pretty wedding united A. V. Bachus and Miss Amanda McDonough on Wednesday morning officiated by Rev J B Swanner of the Baptist church. Bachus, a Frisco railroad cashier at Hayti, and Miss McDonough, eldest daughter of Rev E W McDonough, plan to reside in Hayti as they begin married life with well wishes from friends.
Dennis Rushing, Blytheville photographer, visits friends and recalls starting work 27 years ago with Bob Hayes, when they photographed on the ground where Hayes’ place stands. He contemplates returning to Blytheville to resume the picture business, shooting images along the streets of his old neighborhood.
John Secoy, a Braggadocia food farmer, brought corn to Hayti on Saturday to have ground and chopped, but the mill was not running. The writer urges citywide arrangements so residents can get meat and chops on set days, noting corn scarcity but calling for cooperation to ease the shortage.
