Harris Drowned In Black Bayou After Lake Swim

Tiptonville Tennessee June 11 Judge Harris millionaire land owner linked with Reelfoot Lake night riders drowned this afternoon in Black bayou while swimming. He was 30, an expert swimmer, succumbing to heart failure. His body recovered half an hour later. Harris had planned an electric light and ice plant for the town and prior threats led him to live in St Louis with a guarded home.

Ben Brown Union station train announcer died yesterday at home age 64. Funeral Monday at 2 40 p m from St Margaret s church burial Calvary cemetery. He served ten years announcing trains earning the nickname the little man with the big voice. Survived by a wife and six children.

A MISSOURI GIRL DESCRIBES A SUMMER TOUR

Hayti Missouri dog tag tax ordinance 1910

The city of Hayti Missouri enacts an annual dog tax of one dollar for male dogs and two dollars for female dogs for 1910. Hayti Enacts 1910 Poll Tax Ordinance No 45

An ordinance by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen levies a $2 poll tax or three days work per capita for able bodied men aged 21 to 50, resident 30 days, within Hayti. Payment includes street work. ordinance effective after passage in June 1910. Also notes a lightning incident near Bank of Haytland injuring a delivery horse, which recovered.

Dr Cook at Etah voyage plan revealed

The New York American reports Dr Frederick A Cook is in Scotland preparing to sail to Etah to recover his polar records and instruments. He intends to bring back two Eskimos and a boy interpreter, then proceed to Copenhagen to present proofs before returning to New York to confront his critics.
