Hayti Suffers Fourth Major Blaze In Three Years
A Saturday dawn fire in Hayti destroyed two vacant stores and Sanders Bros. shop, with the blaze starting in Sanders Bros. It wiped out showcases and the safe. J T Buckley, who had just bought the Brad Meatte building, suffered the heaviest loss. Sanders Bros. had 1.50 insurance, 400 on the building, 100 on fixtures, and 1,000 on stock. Dr J G Crider’s building was the third. The wind came from the south, a different direction could have worsened the damage. This marks the fourth large fire in Hayti’s business district in under three years.
