Musical Revue Planned for Hayti First Baptist Benefit

A Monday January musical revue will be given for the First Baptist Church of Hayti to benefit the church building fund. The program features popular melodies readings comedy songs and special acts by Otto Kassell Hess Bay Dr J V Moore Nelle Brasher Lolo Kassell Mrs Brasher and Mr Thompson, and includes an Oriental extravaganza reading Tell Me Little Gypsy with the entire company. Visitors well known in Southeast Missouri musical circles join the home cast, including Mrs Otto Kassell of Cape Girardeau who arrived Tuesday to spend ten days in Hayti with Mrs Wm Finch.

High School Notes Attendances and Programs Highlight Term

The grade school attendance fell due to small pox while high school impact remained light. Juniors staged a Kid Program with Santa, trees, and visitors. Sophomores followed with a student help session and a debate in which the affirmative won on abolishing courtships. A girls athletic outing and a list of attendees followed, with exams looming in the final week of the second quarter. The dramatic club plans a production titled And Home Came Ted as announcements are awaited.

Campbell Carpenter Dies After Scaffold Fall

Campbell Carpenter, a city carpenter, fell eleven feet from a scaffold at the McBride shop at 3 pm Thursday. He struck the granitoid walk, suffered a skull fracture and other injuries, and died at midnight without regaining consciousness. Wire Chief Callihan and Repairman McCall were in Hayti Tuesday for telephone work.

Baptist Ladies Hold Silver Offering at Watts Home

The Baptist Ladies social at Mr. and Mrs. O. N. Watts raised 53.59 for the church building fund. Music by local performers complemented a supper of sandwiches, salad, cake, coffee, and hot chocolate. The group planned monthly dinners and discussed church plans at a gathering hosted by Mrs. Aliie Deweese. next meeting set for Mrs. Jas. Olves. McCall attended a Sikeston meeting of S. BE. Missouri plant men for S. W. Bell Telephone Co. maintenance instructions.

Senath Woman Takes Her Own Life

Jennie Blanchard, about 40, wife of Albert Blanchard a farmer three miles north of Senath, shot herself with a 32 caliber revolver at 5 p m Tuesday January 4 in the yard of the Blanchard home after obtaining the weapon from a neighbor. The act occurred in the presence of several children while her husband sat on the front porch. Jealousy is said to have caused the tragedy as he did not see her fall. Kennett News

New Year Dance Tragedy Ends in Fatal Shooting

A. E. Tinsley, 30, a blacksmith, was shot and killed by Jack Edmonson, 27, during a New Year dance in Malden. A single barrel shotgun with No 6 shot perforated his face and neck, severed the jugular, and caused death within minutes. Edmonson surrendered to Night Marshal Jos Vincent and was jailed. The inquest held January 1 confirmed the prior fight at a southeast Malden dance led to the shooting.

Editor Chews Two Flavors At Once In Caruthersville

Hon Corley L Overall deputy in come with headquarters at Cape Girardeau transacted business in the city Monday and paid a pleasant call. He spoke of his Campbell Citizen foreman editor who can chew two packages of wax on one jaw side while tasting a ten ounce Star chew on the other. The editor supposedly keeps the flavors separate.
